About the Marine Corps Heritage Foundation

The Marine Corps Heritage Foundation is dedicated to honoring the history, traditions, and culture of the United States Marine Corps. Through education, preservation, and events, we ensure that the courage, sacrifice, and dedication of Marines remain a source of inspiration for future generations.

  • Founded in 1979 to preserve and promote the rich history, traditions, and culture of the United States Marine Corps.
  • Committed to educating the public about the values of Honor, Courage, and Commitment through engaging exhibits and programs.
  • Safeguarding the stories of Marines for future generations, ensuring their sacrifices and contributions are never forgotten.

I feel they do a tremendous job in assisting the young men and women of USMC families with their lives and continuing education that in turn makes them very productive thru their lives. It is always a pleasure to visit the Museum and look at when you were a part of the USMC team and just how much the Corps has changed. Make one proud to be a Marine, both past and present.

I visited the National Museum in 2018. It was like coming home. I wanted to do my small part to preserve our history. Semper Fi

I sincerely believe the history and traditions of the Marine Corps are enthroned in the walls of the The National Museum of the Marine Corps. Every Marine veteran, retired or active, should pass through the doors of the Museum and obtain the true sense of pride of being a part of the "Family" that is on display. When persons of other branches enter and tour the Museum, they will then understand why every Marine is so proud to be a United States Marine. The National Museum of the Marine Corps shall forever display our history and heritage.

I owe so much to the U.S. Marine Corps for the Faith, Pride, Spirit and Mental toughness embedded in my soul throughout my life as a Marine Officer.

A Unique Partnership in Preserving History

The National Museum of the Marine Corps is the result of a unique public–private partnership between the United States Marine Corps and the Marine Corps Heritage Foundation (MCHF). The Foundation raised the funds to build the Museum and continues to support its growth through education, preservation, and outreach programs beyond what government resources alone can provide, while the United States Marine Corps manages the exhibits, collections, and daily operations. Together, this partnership ensures the story of America’s Marines is preserved and shared with future generations, inspiring pride, scholarship, and understanding of the Corps’ legacy.

Celebrating 250 Years of Marine Corps Excellence in 2025

In 2025, the United States Marine Corps will mark its 250th anniversary—a monumental milestone in our nation’s history. This historic celebration aims to engage communities across the country and inspire the next generation of Marines and citizens alike.
