Volunteers are the heart of the National Museum of the Marine Corps. Whether you're greeting guests, guiding tours, supporting events, or working behind the scenes, your time and dedication help bring the Marine Corps story to life for every visitor.

Hospitality Ambassadors
Serve as the welcoming face of the Museum. Greet visitors, assist with way finding, thank visitors, gather feedback on visitor's experiences, and perform other special assignments.
Candidates for this position enjoy working with the public and have positive customer service and interpersonal skills. They are also reliable, like working on a team, and are able to take initiative.
Docents
Answer questions about the Museum and surrounding area. Conduct special tours, answer questions and oversee patrons in the Galleries, as well as, assist with the interactive exhibits.
The ideal candidate need not have served in the Marines or have any ties to the military. The chief requirements are an interest in Marine Corps history and plenty of energy!
Volunteer Program Requirements
Volunteer positions are open to all individuals with an interest and a commitment of service to the Museum who meet the qualifications without reference to race, color, religion, sex, age, or national origin. Volunteers must be at least 16 years of age and able to perform their prescribed duties. A minimum time commitment of 8 hours per month is required to maintain volunteer status. Volunteers work independently, with other volunteers, and with permanent Museum staff.
Application are submitted to the National Museum of the Marine Corps Visitor Services Chief. Applicants will be contacted for an interview by the Visitor Services Team. A comprehensive training program is designed to prepare participants to operate effectively in their role as a NMMC volunteer. This invaluable training program features sessions highlighting each exhibit area and its collections. This mandatory training is scheduled as the requirement for new volunteers warrants.
