Empowering Learning Through Marine Corps History
Since 1979, the Marine Corps Heritage Foundation has supported scholarly research and literary works oriented to Marine Corps history. In keeping with such mission focus, the Foundation supports educational outreach programs to augment the National Museum of the Marine Corps visitor experience.
The National Museum of the Marine Corps provides educators an excellent opportunity to share the history of the United States Marine Corps with their students. Students can see how United States Marines have affected people and events throughout history and experience historical events through the immersive exhibits.
Marine Corps Heritage Foundation sponsors the Teacher in Residence (TIR) program. The TIR program allows selected teachers from Prince William County and Stafford County the opportunity to expand ways to teach the rich history and heritage of the United States Marine Corps and introduce the National Museum of the Marine Corps to teachers and students from across the country. The TIR programs include Student Leadership programs, Teacher Leadership programs and Teacher Professional Development workshops.

Annual Student Art Competition
This national competition invites K–12 students to tell the Marine Corps story through visual art. Winning works are showcased at the Museum and online, inspiring reflection and creativity.

Teacher-in-Residence Program
Each year, an experienced educator works inside the Museum to design lessons, lead workshops, and expand access to Marine Corps history for teachers and students nationwide.

Supporting Museum-Based Education
Bring Marine Corps history to life for students of all ages. The Foundation funds curriculum-aligned programs, classroom resources, and immersive museum experiences that make learning dynamic, engaging, and memorable.
