Marine Corps Concerto Competition 


Inspiring the Next Generation of Musicians and Leaders

The Marine Corps Concerto Competition is presented by the Marine Corps Heritage Foundation and “The President’s Own” United States Marine Band, inviting talented high school musicians to showcase their skill, dedication, and artistry. The competition celebrates musical excellence and the proud legacy of Marine Corps music.

Finalists perform alongside members of “The President’s Own,” showcasing their artistry and dedication. The competition winner will be invited to perform their solo selection in concert with the Marine Chamber Orchestra on April 19, 2026, in the Washington, D.C. area, and will receive a $2,500 scholarship from the Marine Corps Heritage Foundation. Second- and third-place winners will receive $1,000 and $500 scholarships, respectively.

Rooted in Marine Corps tradition, the competition honors leadership, service, and musical achievement while inspiring the next generation to carry forward a proud legacy through performance.

Are You Eligible? 

  • High School Student (grades 9-12)

  • You may not apply if you are a previous winner

  • String, Piano, and Harp players 

    Note: This program alternates eligible instruments every other year. This year includes string, piano, and harp players. Next year will be woodwind, percussion, and brass players.  

Program Benefits 

  • Individual Coaching : Each finalists will receive coaching from a member of the Marine Band. 
  • Features Performance : Finalists will be invited to Washington, D.C. tp preform their solo at a public performance at the John Philip Sousa Band Hall at the Marine Barracks Annex.
  • Winner Honors and Scholarships: The winner performs their solo with the Marine Chamber Orchestra in the Washington, D.C. area, and receives a $2,500 scholarship; second and third place receive $1,000 and $500.
