The National Museum of the Marine Corps opened its state-of-the-art giant-screen Medal of Honor Theater on July 23, 2017. Sponsored by Lockheed Martin, the 369-seat theater is equipped with two 4K laser projectors that provide audiences with ultra-realistic images and awe-inspiring visuals while the theater's sound system adds an experience unlike any other theater in the country. Shown in the Theater is our signature film We, The Marines which follows the journey of Marines from boot camp to training, deployment and finally homecoming.

Iwo Jima: From Combat to Comrades

In honor of the 76th anniversary of the Battle of Iwo Jima, the Marine Corps Heritage Foundation will offer an exclusive look at the documentary Iwo Jima: From Combat to Comrades. Brought to you by Arnold Shapiro Productions, tickets will be available to stream here only on February 19 - 23, 2021. 

The film takes viewers inside dual stories of the iconic battle and this historic reunion as former warriors set foot once again on the black sands of Iwo Jima, this time together. A chance to hear from the only Japanese survivor able to make the return trip, this captivating film travels us back through time to 1945 and allows us to share in a moment of remembrance.

Frequently Asked Questions

Below is a list of frequently asked questions for what you can expect when visiting the Medal of Honor Theater at the National Museum of the Marine Corps. For other questions or group inquiries, please email theaterinfo@marineheritage.org.
​What are the Medal of Honor Theater’s hours? Why are they different from the Museum? ​
The Medal of Honor Theater is running shows on an amended schedule to maintain a safe and clean environment. View the most up to date schedule of showtimes here.

​Do I need to wear a face covering?
Yes, all persons over the age of six must wear a face covering at all times while visiting the NMMC and MOHT. We recommend anyone over the age of two wears a face covering. Masks are still required before, during and after the movie.
How will you ensure there is social distancing?
Staff will monitor and remind guests to remain six feet apart. Yellow footprints like those seen by Marine recruits at boot camp to indicate safe social distances between guests and staff. In order to maintain social distancing in the auditorium, three seats will be left between each party. ​
How many people are allowed in the theater at a time?
At this time we will only be allowing up to 100 persons in the Medal of Honor Theater at a time to ensure safe social distancing can be maintained.
Can I reserve tickets?
You can purchase tickets in advance online.
Do you take Apple Pay?
No. While we are cash free at this time, we can not accept Apple, Samsung or Google pay.
What forms of payment do you take?
At this time, we can not accept cash. We accept Visa, Master Card, Discover and American Express debit and credit cards.
Do You offer any discounts?
We offer military and senior discounts as well as group discounts. Click for more info.
Are you still hosting private events?

Can I bring food or beverages?
Food and beverages may not be consumed in the Theater. For the health and safety of all, water fountains have been turned off but visitors may bring unopened, clear water bottles no larger than 20oz. Food and other beverages are not permitted in the Museum.
Why is the Rifle Range closed? ​
In an effort to create the safest environment for all, the Museum’s interactives have been disabled. Our interactive laser simulated Rifle Range remains temporarily closed until it is safe for both visitors and staff to reopen. Check here for updates.

The National Museum of the Marine Corps remains temporarily closed. The grounds of the Museum, to include Semper Fidelis Memorial Park and the playground are open to the public. The Marine Corps Heritage Foundation office will continue to support and serve donors during this closure. Our team is still booking and hosting private events.
