Tell Congress: Support the Coin that Honors Marines

We’re calling on all Marines and grateful Americans to contact Congress in support of the 250th Anniversary Marine Corps Coin
Picture
Picture
Legislation authorizing the U.S. Treasury to mint commemorative coins in honor of the Marine Corps’ 250th Anniversary has been introduced in both the U.S. House of Representatives and U.S. Senate. More Members of Congress must sign-on as co-sponsors this month, or the legislation will not pass.

The 250th Anniversary of the United States Marine Corps Commemorative Coin Act will allow Americans to substantially contribute toward the preservation of Marine Corps history without costing taxpayers a single cent.
Picture
Congress may authorize the production of two commemorative coins every year. The initial funds received from the purchase of these coins go directly toward production costs, so there are no costs to the taxpayer. Revenue beyond the product costs is then dedicated to a cause related to the coin. For the 250th Anniversary coin, those funds will support Marine Corps Heritage Foundation’s historical and cultural programs that preserve, showcase and educate the public on Marine Corps history, traditions and culture.

A coin minted in 2005 for the 230th anniversary of the Marine Corps was one of the most popular in U.S. Mint history! The revenue from that coin helped fund the construction of the National Museum of the Marine Corps—an award-winning cultural institution that has welcomed visitors from around the world.

We believe a coin marking the 250th anniversary of the Marine Corps will be just as popular. The funds generated will enable the Marine Corps Heritage Foundation to continue support to the National Museum of the Marine Corps and take the history, tradition, culture and values of the Marine Corps beyond the Museum’s walls to Americans across the country.
