This year's winner of the National Museum of the Marine Corps Award is Joshua Abreu who competed within the Junior division in the Individual Website category. Joshua is a student at Philip Michael Pennington Traditional School in Manassas (Prince William County Schools) and his sponsoring teachers were Ms. Weiss and Ms. Khochareun. The National Museum of the Marine Corps, in partnership with the Marine Corps Heritage Foundation, presents the award judged to be the best entry with a history of the Marine Corps subject within the guidelines of this year's History Day theme of "Rights and Responsibilities in History."
Joshua Abreu's website entry is titled, "Montford Marines: Marching towards Equality." (It can be seen at http://50250740.nhd.weebly.com/ ) His entry also earned a second place in the Junior Division's Individual Website category, roughly out of 20 entries in that category. As a result of his placement (Top Two Placement), Joshua and his website are heading to Virginia State History Day competition on Saturday 26 April 2014 at Williamsburg, VA.
