– The Marine Corps Heritage Foundation is now accepting nominations for its Annual Awards program. Each year the Marine Corps Heritage Foundation presents awards honoring individuals whose outstanding, creative work preserves or highlights an aspect of Marine Corps history, traditions, culture or service. Marines and civilians alike are encouraged to submit their own entries or the distinguished work of others for award consideration. Awards will be presented at the Foundation’s annual ceremony on April 26, 2014. Submissions deadline is January 8, 2014.
From Active Duty Marines to civilians, nationally renowned writers to Marine Corps Privates, the Annual Awards draw entries from a broad spectrum of individuals who portray, capture or recreate some aspect of Marine Corps life. Awards are presented in 15 categories, including journalism, documentary, literature, screenplay, photography and poetry. The awards submissions will be reviewed by a distinguished and diverse panel of editors from major regional and national media outlets, as well Marines, authors and noted photographers.

"The Marine Corps Heritage Foundation's Annual Awards program shines a spotlight on exceptional works that educate the American public about the history and culture of the Marine Corps," said Lt. Gen. Robert R. Blackman, Jr., president and CEO of the Marine Corps Heritage Foundation. "As fewer Americans have a personal connection to the Marine Corps, and military service in general, preserving the Marine Corps experience and appreciating its significance to our nation will be ever more important. We highly encourage individuals to participate in this important and prestigious program by submitting their own original work, or another's work that they admire."
