| To place an order online at the Museum Store, go to the Museum Store icon/picture and click on it. When looking through the list of products available, select the items you wish to purchase.
Ordering is easy, but just like at the store, you should have selected the items you wish to buy before you make a purchase at the cash register. You do not have to make separate orders if you wish to order multiple items, so you do not have to re-enter computer data if you simply list all the items you wish to purchase at one time. Think of online ordering as taking your purchases to the cashier at a store.
When you identify an item, you will be prompted to either add it to your shopping cart and continue shopping or proceed to checkout. If you opt to continue shopping, your item waits until you decide to check out. If you decide to proceed to check out, click that button and you will be taken to the check out area.
At the checkout area, you will either have to use your email and password for the Museum Store to log in (if you have ordered before) so you can make purchases, or you will have to create a new password to do so. The email the system requests is your home email account address, and the password is one you create and which is stored so we can use it as part of a 2-part security key. Do not give you password to anyone you do not want to be able to order using your name. The two parts of the entry code are:
- Your email address
- Your password (which you create)
Do not create a new password if you forget your existing one. Click on the words ‘Forgot Your Password?’ and you will be asked to supply your email address. Once you do that, your password will be sent to your email where you can retrieve it within a few minutes. Once you successfully enter the ordering system, you will be asked to provide information. First you will need to verify account information and will need to give your first and last name, your telephone number, email address, and payment method. If you have a question, you can click the ‘Learn More’ key and you will be given more details about commonly asked questions.
This section is where you will supply your credit card information (card number, expiration date, and security code, usually a 3- or 4-digit number on the back of the card). Exception—American Express has the code on the front of the card. Here you also will have a chance to make a donation (optional) to the Marine Corps Heritage Foundation. You have the opportunity to enter a ‘personalized’ message if this is a gift being sent to another or to a separate shipping address. When you finish this, click on ‘Next’ and you will be sent to the next page for billing information.
The second part is billing information—this is to verify your credit card. This area tells you what the cost of your order including shipping method and shipping charges will be. This is a secure system. It asks for personal information such as address etc… This address is where you receive billing statements from your credit card company and is your address of record.
The third section is the shipping information section. This determines where the products you order will be sent. There is a box you can check if your billing information address is the same as the shipping address. If the address is different to your billing address, this is where you enter that information. When you finish this information, click ‘Next’ to go to the confirmation of order section.
The confirmation of order section
- lists and verifies products you ordered,
- price of items you ordered
- sales tax (if applicable),
- billing and shipping addresses and
- shipping details
In the confirmation section, you have the options:
- to view a previous page,
- to cancel the order at the bottom of this page, or
- to complete the order.
Click on ‘Complete the Order’ button to finalize your transaction. When you click on this, you will be sent to a synopsis page that reiterates all the information entered and can be printed for future reference or for your records.
